Welcome to the latest edition of the IHEEM, IFHE & IFHE EU Worldwide Update.

Welcome to the fifth edition of our COVID-19 update. In this edition you will find technical specifications from the WHO about non-invasive ventilators to comply and ensure quality, safety and effectiveness. You will also find a list of priority medical devices which provides for different levels of healthcare provision. The Royal Academy Engineering has released an 'Engineering Resilience Report' which IHEEM has been one of their policy partners answering questions by the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE) subgroups. This report summarises how engineers can transform ideas into advice and action to secure a more resilient future. The University Hospital of Leicester NHS Trust explains what they did as a direct result of NHSE/I – 2020/001 alert and what they have done to manage capacity issues of COVID19 to maintain a high level of assurance of the oxygen delivery network and system of UHL. Finally, Dr Hayaatun Sillem CBE Hon FIHEEM, Chief Executive of the Royal Academy of Engineering shares her views on engineering better ways to control hospital acquired infections in a post-COVID world. We hope you find this issue informative and useful.

Stay safe and thank you again for your help and support.
